This past week I found out my mid-term grades for my lecture and lab classes. Hoping to see an A for both classes, I found in my lecture class I had gotten an 85.7%. This wasn't too much of a shock just because I did miss one day when there was a surprise quiz, in which there was a rule, if you're not there on the day of a pop quiz, you can't take it at all. Just my luck!
I was completely shocked to find that in my lab class I had gotten a 56.7%. Yea! I was absolutely horrified and completely confused. We hadn't really done anything in the class but make crowns and bridges and I was doing great at them. I was passing every one of them. Just to add to my confusion even more, the box marked comments said "Turn in these assignments and grade will go up," along with an arrow pointing to the missing assignments. I asked the teacher about it and she assured me that I just needed to turn in those three assignments. I searched my bag and found two of them. I turned them in and told her that I didn't have the third. She said that it was very likely I could have turned that particular missing assignment in in a different class. Sometimes the classes overlap each other and assignments are turned in earlier. My teacher then told me that she would figure the new grade out and give it to me later. I was still very unsettled by everything though. How could three assignments be worth that many points?
Two days went by before I was able to find out my new grade had been bumped up to a 95.4%. I still don't understand it......at all......but I am much happier now. And since then I was also able to raise my lecture class grade from that 85.7% to a much nicer 89.8%, which gives me an automatic A (the teacher gives it to us if it's .5% from being an A). Not to mention I have 2 more weeks to get them even higher.
