My first patient
Today was the first day I actually got to work on a patient for my lab class. In my current class, we are learning how to do coronal polishing. This is when stains are removed from the teeth for a more desirable look by the patient. This can be done to ensure the teeth are looking their best before braces are put on. Although it's not always done before the braces are put on. This is often times done for the patient that wants to have better looking teeth for themselves. After practicing for weeks on other students in my class and on typodonts (fake teeth) I got to use my first outside (outside of the school that is) patient to do coronal polish on. This lucky person just happened to be my dad. What a great dad I have for enduring the torture :) He helped me receive my first A on a patient. Now all I need is one more A and I'm done with my lab class for this module (six week class). Now it's Zachary's turn to get his teeth all shined up and stainless.
